Default USB re-boot

I am running XP Home, I recently installed a USB 2.0 controller with 4 x
external and 1 x internal ports this all seems to work fine. My USB 1.0 port
on the front of my PC controlled by the mother board is still in operation, I
use this for day to day ease of use connections. I am not quite sure when
this problem started although it has been for 6 months or so, each time I
plug in or remove a USB device my system reboots. Upon restart I then receive
a system recovery error message! Has anyone experienced similar problems? Any
help would be much appriciated

Cheers....Kevin.

Are u remove it straight away? You need to turn it off before removing.

Hi Ken
thanks for the reply, do you mean turn it off as in Win2000 before you
remove a device? You don't need to do that in XP do you! I have always just
pluged in and removed without a problem until recently...it happend again
just ten minutes ago with a USB flash drive.

You should use the icon in the system tray to shut it down before
removal even in XP.

Cheers,

Cliff
