Default my problem :(

Hello all

Bruce, I found your advice very interesting cos i too have a similar
problem with one difference...

here's my thing:
one of my processses at one point of time suddenly start hogging the
resources by 50% and hangs my pc, i have no option but to end process
and start the process again, however sometimes, even when i restart
process it doesnt start but it's taking up 50% resources in my process
list, and i start again which means i have two processes running of the
same executable [ex yahoo messenger] with one takin 50% resources and
the other nothing, and after some time even if i end process of the
first non workin 60% resource hogging process, the other one works
without a hitch...

now my problem is it happens too often and with diff programs,
basiically can happen with anything i'm running.. which is very
irritating..

i scanned my system with NOD32 with latest definitions - it showed
nothing

Spyware Doctor 3.2 with latest definitions dint help too..

now i'm running spybot search and destroy.. lets see if this helps me..

any other suggestions for me????

thankx and regards

Default Re: my problem :(

Spybot is likely to find the bug that is causing the problem but in case it
does not, install Adaware SE Personal or HijackThis as last resort in case
of not
having success with the previous programs. Also disable possible spyware in:
Start\Run\type; msconfig and hit enter.. in the Startup tab look for any
process other than system related which are the antivirus, Office shortcut
bar, and messenger; other than these system processes, disable any unknown
process removing the check mark and scan with spyware programs in safe mode
if necessary (press F8 at startup to logon in safe mode).
And delete any unknown value in the Local Machine and Current User Run keys,
use the same criteria as for Msconfig in the Run keys the only expected
difference is the addition of CTFMON which is a system process. So go to
Start\Run\regedit\ and go to the Run keys in the following hives:

Only the default value, values for the antivirus, msoffice, messenger and
ctfmon should be in these keys, delete other unknown processes.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run

Install the following programs and update them before scaning the system.
Adaware SE Personal
CWShredder
and only if necessary HijackThis.
