I posted a networking problem I'm having in the wireless networking group
(Shared but access denied) but this is a related issue which I feel best belongs here. I have My Documents named as Documents on my data partition (F). Through trying to troubleshoot my networking shared folders predicament I've come across a weird path confusion problem - whenever I try and open a back-up of my Documents folder on another disk I get routed back to the F/Documents folder. - I created a 'Docs' folder to see if I could transfer files to it and hope that folder would be shareable. I transferred my data into that folder only to find I couldn't access it! I kept being routed to Documents on the F partition (F/Documents), which was now empty.... - I backed up Docs onto a DVD (Nero saw the Docs folder and its content properly). - The DVD was successfully created but when I open the drive I/Docs I get F/Documents, not I/Docs and not even F/Docs. - My previously created back-up on an external HDD using Dantz Retrospect also goes to F/Documents rather than the proper path, K/Retrospect etc.. The only way I can get round this is to logon as administrator in safe mode. I opened F/Docs and transferred back all the data to F/Documents - and they're there, again! However, I'm left with not being able to access back-ups as I'm constantly having the F/Documents folder added. Why should this happen? How can I fix it? Thanks. Steve |
