Default Invalid PATH - cannot modify LAN properties

After using my home laptop at work, it appears that some automatic
updates got pushed to it. As a result I no longer can install CLIENT,
SERVICE or PROTOCOL in the LOCAL AREA CONNECTION PROPERTIES window.

The error message I am getting is as follows: "Could not add the
requested component. The error is: The specified path does not contain
any applicable device INFs."

Both my hope and work laptop have C:/WINDOWS/INF folders and I am not
sure what to look for in the regedt32.

I will much appreciate the help.
