Hello,
I just installed a Canon i850 USB printer on my system but now I can't assign a USB port to it because no USB port is available in the list of ports. I've just got parallel and com ports but no USB ports. This is a brand new installation of Windows XP Home, and I've never had this problem when installing a printer driver. I've even downloaded the latest driver. I know the USB ports work since other USB devices seem to work fine and even when I plug in the printer XP recognizes it, but since the driver is not included with XP I have to cancel out of the wizard that starts up and installed the downloaded driver. I've installed this 100 times time before after a new install of XP and this is the first time I've run into this. Anyone know how I can assign a USB port? Thanks, Jeff |

Jeff, you could try disconnecting all your USB devices then rt click
MyComputer>select Properties>Hardware>Device Manager>USB Controllers. rt click on each one and choose Uninstall. Restart and try installing the Canon Driver first before connecting the Printer.
