Default Problem with Icons on desktop

Hello

I have XP SP-2 and a few days ago I had a virus attack my computer and it
changed my desktop to a blue screen with a bif red warning sign in the middle
which instructed me to download an anti virus program because my computer
could could be damaged if I dont. I downloaded Norton anti virus, ran it and
it took care of the problem. However, after my desktop returned back to its
original theme all my icons were surrounded by a different color border that
contrasts with the backround. Since then I've been unable to change my icons
to where these is no color surrounding them. Ive gone to Appearances and
themes in the the control panel, and change destop background. However,
anytime I change the color of the desktop it it only changes the color of the
"border" around my icons...I cannot get rid of this color surrounding my
icons. Can anybody help?

Thanks
