I just started working in China. I was just supplied with an IBM R52 laptop.
The laptop has a Chinese version of windows, and unfortuneatly I can not read chinese. All of the menus etc are in chinese. Is it possible to switch the language for XP? Can anyone suggest how I go about resolving this issue? Thank you very much, Ed |

Hi Ed
You can't change the Language of XP. You will have to purchase an English Retail XP CD. You can then either install the English version instead of the Chinese one or dual boot both. -- Will Denny MS MVP Windows Shell/User Please reply to the News Groups "gemoon" <gemoon@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8A59EA6B-60B7-4B50-AD82-0EBD6428EBD5@microsoft.com... >I just started working in China. Will,
Thanks for your reply. A license was purchased for XP with the computer when it was bought. It doesn't seem quite right to have to pay for a second copy just because the language is not appropriate. Besides this, it is not a simple feat for me to get an english version of anything here. I am not in one of the major metropolitan areas. Getting anything shipped here will require at least a month, probably much longer. Possibly IBM will have a solution for this issue. Hi Ed
It's unfortunate, but it's the only way to go. IBM may be able to obtain an English version quicker than having to wait a month. -- Will Denny MS MVP Windows Shell/User Please reply to the News Groups "gemoon" <gemoon@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:703C2F1C-65EE-4D76-B293-48B7C674668F@microsoft.com... > Will, > Thanks for your reply. > > A license was purchased for XP with the computer when it was bought.
