Default Windows crash during programs

This has happened on a couple different programs. The screen goes black and I
get a weird sound from the speakers. The system doesn't take input. The only
I have found out of it is to reset the machine. It seems to only affect
graphic intensive programs like games. I have tried reformatting and
reinstalling everything but it still does it. I have XP with SP2 and all
updates. Machine is P4 3gig, 1gig RAM, 256meg nVidia 6600 graphics

Default RE: Windows crash during programs

Make sure your games are compatable with your machine and you are running at
the recommended screen resolutions.
