I was running Kaspersky antivirus on an educational user license which expired when my course ended, I uninstalled it as I didn't want to afford to pay for the full version at that point and downloaded Avast. On installing Avast my internet access stoped (I normally use a cable modem via a wireless setup but I have also tried a diret connection to the modem and a dial-up connection) so I removed it again. I have also tried trial versions of Norton, Mcafee and Kaspersky again and these all have the same effect of blocking all internet access. I normally run Sygate personnal firewall and have the winxp firewall off but in any situation internet access is blocked by any of the above virus scanners. Any ideas what is going on here? Many thanks, |

Do these anti-virus packages come with firewall? Make sure all firewall's
are turned off (only temporarily!). Make sure your running XP SP2 with the latest hotfixes/patches.
