My daughter has just bought a digital camera. She has a USB2 port on her
computer which is running under Windows XP Pro SP2. She installed the software that came with her camera, but the computer could not find her digital camera. I told her to download and install Tweak UI and then, under "My computer" in Tweak UI, click on "Drives" and then put a checkmark beside several of the unchecked drive letters. Once she had done that and rebooted, everything worked perfectly. She can now download photos from her camera to a hard drive on her computer. My questions: (1) Why doesn't the hardware installation wizard in XP automatically detect the problem of unallocated drives and corrrect the problem or at least alert the user as to what this problem is? (2)How can one fix this problem without recourse to Tweak UI? I have searched within XP itself and found no way to allocate additional drives. Am I overlooking something? Thanks. |
