Hello --
This used to work but it no longer does: navigate to Start > All Programs > Startup, right click on the Startup folder and select Open or Explore (same for Open All Users and Exlpore All Users). Nothing happens. It used to open an Explorer window to the corresponding folder. Same right-click action from Windows Explorer or right on the Start button works fine. Any ideas what's wrong with All Programs? Many thanks. |

Right click on the Start button and select Properties from the menu. Click on the Start menu tab. Hit the Customize button. In Customize Start Menu, click on the Advanced tab. Make sure there's a check mark in the box next to "Enable dragging and dropping". Nepatsfan |

It's already checked. I'm not sure what drag'n'drop has to do with the
fact that the right-click Open/Explore actions don't do anything in All Programs. I think some registration for these folders is messed up. Many thanks anyway. |

The exact problem that I'm having is described as bullet #5 in this
article: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm Too bad I don't know how to correct it. |

Sorry about my earlier response. I misinterpreted your original question to mean that you were right clicking on Start Menu items and weren't even getting the menu to appear . My response was meant to resolve that issue. Back to your real problem, did you follow Ramesh's advice contained in the Method 2 section? Did you download ShellExView and follow his instructions? If you're having problems following the procedures that are outlined on that web site, post back and I'll see if I can provide any guidance. I notice there's a link at the bottom of that page for feedback. You might want to go that route and contact Ramesh directly for clarification on that article. Good luck Nepatsfan |

Yeah, I tried ShellExView but I can't make any sense of it. I'm not
sure what handles Open & Explore for the All Programs folders, which are the entries in the registry for these object types. If I knew, I could restore them from a computer where it works. I think this may have been caused by running CCleaner. It probably deleted something that it thought it was no longer needed but I guess it is. I don't think it pays off to run these registry cleaners, the problems they may create could far exceed the benefits. |
