Follow this path: Performance&Maintenance, administrative tools, component services, services, automatic updates. Now click on Log On and Enable. Now go to General and in Startup Type choose Automatic. And a bit lower in Service Status make sure you Start the service. Hope this helps! morathy Wrote: > I cannot activate my windows automatic updater. When I go into 'system - > automatic updater' , the section 'turn off automatic updater' has > been > chosen and is grey. 1. Check the Service Manager for "Automatic Update" service
Click Start, select Run and type: Services.msc Press Enter Locate the - "Automatic Update" Make sure the service is not disabled and started. 2. If the service is disabled and cannot be started: Go to START, Select RUN Type: regsvr32 wuaueng.dll Press Ok 3. If all else fails:- Windows Update Greyed Out - Restore (Line 179) http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm Automatic Updates options are grayed out?: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/aupolicy.htm -- =========================== TaurArian [MS-MVP] 2005-2006 =========================== "morathy" <morathy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:44965B53-9625-4CD9-AE45-AB5E591A434D@microsoft.com... >I cannot activate my windows automatic updater. When I go into 'system - > automatic updater' , the section 'turn off automatic updater' has been > chosen and is grey.
