Default msconfig services

I have had no problems reducing the number of programs that start with
windows, because i know what each of the entries is for in the startup
section. However, when i get to the services tab, i have no idea which items
are ok to stop and which arent. Is there some place i could get an
explanation as to what each one does (only the microsoft services of course)?
At any given time i have about 35 processes running, very few of which are in
the startup section of msconfig.
