Hello. I am using Windows XP Home, with SP2 installed. The computer itself
is a Pentium 4 running at 2.66 GHz, with 512 MB of RAM. Prior to the SP2 update, one day any and all directory navigation slowed down to a snalls pace. For example, if I go into excel to open a file and click on the down arrow to select my directory, everything freezes for 45 seconds or so, at which point I can see the directory structure and everything works fine. Whether I am using Windows explorer, or any office product, the same thing occurs. I have tried cleaning up my hard disk, defragmentation, deleting temp files, etc. etc with no luck. There is no delay in opening anything, just in initial navigation or expansion of any directory structure. Any ideas? I am going nuts trying to solve this. |
