Default XP with memory problems - Duel Monitors

Hi,

I have been using my P4 3.2 with duel monitors for about 18 months without
problems.
Last month I had a problem with Windows. I ran the Windows setup (Repair)
and every thing seemed OK. Then, auto updating of Windows XP was disallowed.
After following the Microsoft solutions all appeared OK and auto update works
fine (in background mode)

At some stage I lost the use of my second monitor. It does not appear as a
second available monitor in the properties section of Display Setup.

I have uninstalled the Nvidia FX5600Xt drivers and uninstalled the vidio
card, all is identified and appropriate drives requested and installed upun
rebooting except that the resolution sefaults to 640 X 480 16 bit. I am able
to change the proberties to "Extend to second monitor" and reset the
resolutions of both screens Ok. I am the able to use the system as always and
use the second screen when editing video to display my video playback.

I have on numerous occasions saved a new "Restore Point" all to no avail as
on the next reboot I loose the second monitor in the display properties area
and bothe monitors display in "Clone " mode and at a resolution of about 640
X 480.

Any suggestions as to encourage my system to remember my desired dsettings
would be appreciated.

Jim t
