I have a problem with the icons on my desktop having a box of colour around
them instead of being transparent. I have tried all of the solutions I could find listed under the same problem but none of them seem to work. This happened after a Spyware detection wallpaper took over my desktop, which I think I managed to solve. But the icon problem remained. HELP!!!! |

You should look harder then. Why do you think people are going to waste their time telling you what you already know. You said you tried all solutions.

I believe I said I tried all of the solutions I could FIND. To those kind souls who may actually be willing to help, I have tried this method: "Right-click on My Computer, select Properties, Advanced tab, Settings button in Performance section, under Visual Effects tab scroll down and click in the checkbox beside "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" to check it, then Apply then OK and OK again" as well as this one: In the Appearance window select the Advanced button Under Item, select Desktop and under Color select 1 then click OK" and this one: "Right-click a blank area of the Desktop, then select Arrange Icons by and click to uncheck "Lock Web Items on Desktop" The info on here "http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;305117" didn't seem to work either. If anyone else can offer other solutions, I will be eternally grateful. This one is a waste of time.
>In the Appearance window select the Advanced button >Under Item, select Desktop and under Color select 1 then click OK" You have to have no web items on the desktop or html wallpaper as well. -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Goodbye Web Diary http://margokingston.typepad.com/har....html#comments ================================================= "Confused" <Confused@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:61CC59EC-9C7D-4E2B-BE64-2A3284D048F0@microsoft.com... > > > "David Candy" wrote: > >> You should look harder then. I would be grateful to any other suggestions. Thanks. |

Perhaps you should learn to read. I said it was a waste of time - select anything you want - it will have no effect on making boxes transparent.

You posted a lazy post wxpecting other to type because you are too lazy to type. Then when the information is finally supplied I point out the two things you hadn't tried and pointed out that one thing you did has no relevence to your problem.
So what is a proven moron like you unhappy about. Do you think anyone will answer you when you refuse to check the two other things. -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Goodbye Web Diary http://margokingston.typepad.com/har....html#comments ================================================= "Confused" <Confused@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9CDD03E0-833B-4950-BD09-F96837E1DEF8@microsoft.com... > > > "David Candy" wrote: > >> Perhaps you should learn to read. Have you tried -
Right click on desktop. Select Properties, then open Desktop tab. Click on the Customize Desktop button, then open the Web tab. Delete everything in the Web Pages box except, My Current Home Page. Press OK, then Apply, and maybe OK again. You may have to restart for settings to take effect. -- =========================== TaurArian [MS-MVP] 2005-2006 =========================== "Confused" <Confused@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6A12BA6F-EB99-4466-B65B-E2E9B34B1DA6@microsoft.com... >I have a problem with the icons on my desktop having a box of colour around > them instead of being transparent.
