I have an installation CD from our Action Pack which I would like to use to
upgrade our W2k Pro (sp4) machines. Running this on a test machine, I receive the following message: "Windows xp setup does not support upgrading from Microsoft Windows 2000 Pro to XP Pro." At which point I have the option of performing a clean install or exiting. I'm puzzled by this as my understanding was that full versions (as this is) could perform in-place upgrades. All the documentation on the MS website tells me that XP can upgrade W2k Pro. I've contacted tech support and they tell me that I need an "upgrade" version. Is this correct? Mike |

You need a "Retail Version" of Windows XP Pro
in order to upgrade over Windows 2000. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows - Shell/User Microsoft Community Newsgroups news://msnews.microsoft.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Shared Care" wrote: | I have an installation CD from our Action Pack which I would like to use to | upgrade our W2k Pro (sp4) machines. that's what I was using. I'm not using the NFR version that also came in the
Action Pack.
