Default Profile Question

Hello,

Under Documents and Settings, there are a handful of folders I am looking
for information about. Mainly, I would like to know their purpose or role.
The folders are:

Application Data
Local Settings
Templates
UserData

If these folders can be used to migrate user specific settings to new PC's,
I would like to utilize that capability. I just hope someone out there
knows what these folders hold as far as data or their designed purpose.

Thanks for any knowledge contributed,

ab

Hi
The folders in question are system folders and files created per user
account. They do, as you rightly assume hold vital information for
each user. You could use these folders to migrate settings to a new PC but
there is a simpler method.
Use the wizard within Windows XP called USMT " USer State Migration Tool"
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro.../mgrtfset.mspx

Click Start, Run, and type Migwiz.exe

Regards

John
