I have just bought a new laptop with a 40Gig HDD. I have made a recovery DVD
for it now, but before that, noticed another HDD partition which had 4gig and was called 'recovery'. My HDD has now dropped to 33.1gig Total Size even though i have not filled it with anything and the 'Recovery' partition has dissapeared. I thought after making the Recovery DVD the 'Recovery' partition would have gave the 4gig back to my normal HDD but it still stands at 33.1. Can i find this 'Recovery' partition and delete it to claim my needed space back now that i have made a Recovery DVD? Does anyone know how to do this and would it be safe to do so? |

The recovery partition should be visible in 'Disk Management'
It was put there by the sys supplier in order to recover from a win failure. You would have to read manu.blurb for its usage. Whether you can recover using your DVD is another matter, as assuming you merely copied the recovery partition. The recovery procedure may look for files in a specific location, there may also have been hidden files. Was there a Manual in the box with the computer? If no manual was in the box were there any stickers indicating that there should be a manual in the box? Where did you buy the computer? Was it in the UK or elsewhere? -- Hope this helps.
