Upon first starting up Windows, a message will appear stating: "This copy of
Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can log on. Do you want to activate Windows now?" If you select No, you will be logged back out of the computer. If you select Yes, the Activate Windows screen will appear, which will walk you through the activation process. -- Regards John MCP Windows XP Professional "Brickz28" <Brickz28@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1033297F-B138-4178-9239-D3D8FF7528DB@microsoft.com... >I put XP home on my kids PC a while back. There are two different functions - Activation and Registration. Activation is mandatory within 30 days. Registration is entirely optional. Next time you are prompted to *activate* your copy of Windows XP. If you do not have an Internet connection you can choose the option to activate by telephone, which will give you a (free call) telephone number for your locale. It will only take a few minutes to complete the activation by telephone. Good luck Ron Martell Duncan B.C.
