Default Win 16 subsystem

I am trying to run a game for my son - it has worked in the past. I am now
getting this error:
Application: GLBSSTUB

The Win 16 Subsystem has insufficent resources to continue running. Click
OK, close your applications, and restart your machine.

Any clues to this?
Running XP home SP2
