Default computer hangs - reboot several timesday.

I have an emachine that has been very good. It is about a year old and has
512k memory. I've had TrendMicro Security (PC-cillin) about 6 months which
works pretty well. Lately after running my system a few minutes at a time,
it freezes up and must re-boot.

Wondering if this has anything to do with my registry. Do I need to reload
XP?

Make sure you have your PC-cillin updated with the latest definitions. I
would also run something like Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy.
Reinstalling Windows would be a last resort decision. Are you using a
firewall of some kind?
