Default two versions of messenger

i have recently upgraded msn messenger from version 4.7 (i think) to version
7.5. when i start up my laptop the earlier version runs automatically. i have
clicked on 'tools', 'options' and then 'preferences' tabs to check the box
which allows you to start or stop running this version when windows starts.
this has not fixed the problem. does anyone have any ideas as i am becoming
increasingly frustrated by this?? i need the earlier version removed. ps
earlier version is not showing in 'add/remove' programs.

kind regards matt

There is supposed to be a \Program Files\MSN Messenegr folder on your
harddrive. See if you have two and delete the one not needed.
