Hi,
I would like to know where the "temporary Location" of the received files is. I know that the final destination is usually "Documents and Settings\User\Documents\Received Files" BUT I could not find the temporay location for those files even if I set Visualize hidden and protected files of Windows, under Directory Option. I would like to know that because if I receive a long file (like for a videoclip) I would like to watch the preview before waiting for the hole file to be transfered. With Avi-preview I quite sure I could watch it if I only could find the tmp location where the file is built. THANK you. |

Greetings Majet,
They're stored in \Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temp\TFRXXXX.tmp Where XXXX can be something and the Username is your Windows username. ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com All posts unless otherwise specified are (c) 2005 Jonathan Kay. Jonathan,
THANK YOU SO MUCH! It was right there, unfortunately the process of Messenger locks the file and it seems impossible either to copy it or to open it with any software for video previews. Do you also have an idea to bypass the process that locks a file? It should be possible to have a preview of a file even if it is processed by something: files that are in shares like those of Emule do that all the time. Thank you for your help. |

Hi Majet,
Without breaking Messenger, I'm not really sure how you'd do this unfortunately. ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com All posts unless otherwise specified are (c) 2005 Jonathan Kay.
