Everytime someone sends me a file through MSN, like a picture for example. It
downloads fine, but then when I try to open the file, it says "windows has blocked this as a potentially harmful file" The files i'm trying to recieve are harmless, i know they are. How do i turn this setting off?? |

I don't know if you can turn it off (or if I'd recommend it) but if you go to the file itself, right click on it, and select properties you will probably see an option to "Unblock" it. Click that if you're sure the file is safe and you should be able to open it without a problem. -- Galen - MS MVP - Windows (Shell/User & IE) http://dts-l.org/ "A man should keep his little brain attic stocked with all the furniture that he is likely to use, and the rest he can put away in the lumber-room of his library where he can get it if he wants it." you can turn that stupid feature off with the MESS patch.
Why do I call it stupid? Because if you trust someone to have them on your contact list you should trust what files that person sends... or you can always scan them with your antivirus.... go to www.mess.be and and download the mess patch from the link that is on the right rumn that patch and it will give you an option for tunring it off (and many many more things) kenny www.computerboom.com -- -- HOPE -- Desire and expectation rolled into one. I recommend the mess.be patch if you trust yourself... never mind anyone else on your list! Marc |
