We recently switched from an AOL dial-up service to MSN, via a Qwest DSL
account. We have set-up several subaccounts with various levels of adult-content filtering, as there are a number of kids using the internet. We use MSN messenger daily. The sign-on icon for Messenger is displayed in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. The problem: When you left-click the Messenger icon on the PC screen, it opens a menu that shows "MSN homepage" as an option. If you click on that, it opens to the MSN homepage, completely circumventing the normal logon / password procedure. As a result, it provides unfiltered access to all the internet, which is highly undesireable. The standard logon process takes you to an"MSN Explorer" browser page (version 9.0, I believe). However, the undersired, unfiltered route takes you to a "Microsoft Explorer" browser (Version 6). I have tried to locate and uninstall this version of Explorer from my PC, but it is not displayed in the list of programs on the "install/remove" screen. I did find a folder for it in the Program files, but I am hestiant to simply delete the folder, not knowing what else might be imacpted. Any ideas? Thanks! |
