Windows Messenger question

Hi

I recently disable Windows Message in Outlook and according to 'Add/Remove
Components' it is not installed as the box next to Windows Messenger is not
checked. Yet I found that I was logged in even though the icon did not
appear in my system tray.

Do you possible know how this occured, because according to the above, it
should be be installed and therefore not log in.

If it wasn't in the system tray then it either was a glitch and it didn't
show up as some programs are occasionally known to do or I'm missing what
you mean by you being logged in. How do you know you were logged in? Anyhow,
I know you said Outlook but try killing Messenger this way:

Remove Windows Messenger:

Hi

I meant logged in as I can see the MSN icon in my system tray and then I
know I logged in.

I tried 'Removing Messenger' as described. It removed MSN Messenger . I'm
not sure if it did anything with Windows Messenger (as I thought it was
already removed, as mentioned in my previous post, but couldn't understand
how I logged in automatically. As you said, sometimes glitches like that
happen...).

Anyway I then reinstalled MSN Messenger. As part of the above 'Remove
Messenger' instruction, a registry key for HideMessenger was created. Do I
leave that key set to 2 still even though I have MSN Messenger installed?

The key will, I think, only affect Windows Messenger. MSN Messenger should
not be affected by this. Is it working as expected? If so then leave it.
