Default Not Running anymore

Help!
I installed 5.1 Windows Messenger.
It gave me the 'logging on' message, but never did.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling 4.7.
But now when I double click on Windows Message, it goes busy then nothing
happens.
I tried reinstalling from the windows XP disk, doesn't work.

Greetings,

When you mean "busy" do you mean the cursor?

If so, download and run both of these .reg files to see if we can get it working:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/dow...enger_user.reg
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/dow...emessenger.reg

You'll need to reboot to see the change.

Actually once I turned off my Norton Internet Firewall it started working.
I would like to turn it back on, if I knew how to allow messenger.
Maybe in an update, it added a port?
