Hello
I've recently installed MSN 7.5 (while Windows Messenger 4.7 was installed)! Now MSN starts up when I start Windows, that's ok! My question is if I need to uninstall Windows Messenger? Because it still apears in my start-up programs! If I should uninstall, please what is the correct way to do that? A thank you in advance! Danilo |

Greetings Danilo,
You can remove Windows Messenger, but if you do, Remote Assistance, Whiteboard and Application Sharing will no longer function. Instead, you can simply disable Windows Messenger. To do so, open it up (click Start, then Run, type "msmsgs" and click OK), click Tools, Options, Preferences tab and uncheck 'Run this Program when Windows starts' or 'Run Windows Messenger when Windows starts' (depending on version) as well as 'Allow this program to run in the background' or 'Allow Windows Messenger to run in the background' (depending on version). ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com All posts unless otherwise specified are (c) 2005 Jonathan Kay. Thank you very much! I will go for the second option! Actually when I went to the options of windows messenger, the 2 options were checked but strange enough after installing MSN7.5, my Windows Messenger4.7 didn't start up anymore! Msn did! Again thank you! Danilo |
