Default Can I fit more than 1 hour of DV-AVI video on a 4.7GB DVD?

Is it possible to record more than 1 hour of video on a 4.7GB DVD if I use
the highest quality DV-AVI setting? Thanks.

Your question is rather vague...

If you mean storing on a DVD as DV-AVI files, then no, you cannot. It
storing it in the DVD as DVD-compliant MPEG2 files, then it is possible to
tweak settings and get more than one hour on a DVD.

Sorry for the vague question. What I meant is, can I record more than 1 hour
of highest quality DV-AVI video as DVD compliant MPEG-2 video on a 4.7GB
disc. You mentioned that was possible if I tweak the settings. What
settings do I need to tweak. Thanks for the help.

Depends on the DVD authoring program you are using. If I remember right,
Sonic's MYDVD does not give you the option to adjust the quality settings
when creating a DVD so you will only get about an hour. Nero Vision Express
does allow you to adjust the quality and you can get over 2 hours of
playback on a dvd, granted, you sacrifice quality to do it.

your quality of your source file, whether DV-AVI, wmv, avi, mpg, is somewhat
irrelevant to your time, as all of these formats will be converted to mpeg2,
to create your DVD.

Correct, hence one of the reasons I hate MyDVD.
Correct on NVE as well.
Ulead Movie Factory and DVD Workshop actually allow you to adjust the
settings to allow up to 4 hours on a DVD but in some cases you may not like
the results and in other cases it works out just fine.
