Ray, if you want to simplify your life and the experience of creating your
own movies don't use Windows Movie Maker. The product is not mature enough regardless of it's stated version 2.xx. Help yourself, find another product to use. Everyone is finding programming errors and doing the QA job for MS. THE BEST BIT OF ADVICE I'VE SEEN!
After months of stress, fiddling, searching and questioning I've come to the conclusion the best thing to do with home movies is put them on VCR tape and screw trying to create dvd's. its a shame and a waste of technology but for f***'s sake my life is more important than wasting hours and hours to create expensive coasters. When Bill Gates gets off his rich arse and makes a prog that doesn't freeze everytime you dare to use it then i'll happily come back, christ i'd even buy it if it worked! until then... |

Sorry to hear you're having problems. I can tell you that renaming qedit.dll
is not going to help. Even if it helps you launch MovieMaker, you won't be able to do hardly anything as we rely on qedit.dll for a lot of core functionality. If MovieMaker is crashing on startup then that is generally caused by having a lot of DirectShow filters on your system. Typically you can work around the problem by temporarily renaming applications that have installed DirectShow filters. It sounds like you tried renaming InterVideo, but you may also have to rename other folders as well. You can find the list of the DirectShow filters that you have installed on your system by running the "dxdiag" program, clicking Save All Information. It will create a text file with the information. If you want me to take a further look, please feel free to email me that file directly and I'll see if I can help you out. Regards Dean. I don't think blaming Bill Gates is going to help any since there are
millions of users, such as myself, who have NEVER had Movie Maker freeze up except when it is my own fault through something I did wrong. Whatever problem you are having is not because WMM freezes "everytime you dare to use it" and the fact is the program DOES work. How about, just for kicks, you tell us what's wrong and maybe it can be fixed. -- Wojo's Place: http://wojos-web.tk Also Please visit..... http://www.remember-christopher.dost...m/christopher/ Dedicated in loving memory of our son Christopher Lee "themink" <themink@leaveitoutblueyonder.co.uk> wrote in message news:B7N3f.24351$U9.2464@fe3.news.blueyonder.co.uk ... > THE BEST BIT OF ADVICE I'VE SEEN! > After months of stress, fiddling, searching and questioning I've come to > the conclusion the best thing to do with home movies is put them on VCR > tape and screw trying to create dvd's. its a shame and a waste of > technology but for f***'s sake my life is more important than wasting > hours and hours to create expensive coasters.
