I have made completed several projects with Moviemaker and Photostory. When
using the .wmv files and Roxio Easy Media creator 7.5 I am having numerous problems. When writing to dvd-r's I have some success but a lot of pauses and skips. When writing to dvd +rw's I appear to have total success. All of the dvd+rws play on my home dvd player. When writing to dvd+r's, I have had no success. All of the DVD's I have created work fine on my computer. My dvd burner is at least 3 years old and my home dvd player is 4 years old. Does anyone have any suggestions. My desire is to burn dvd's that will play on my home DVD player. -- Fred Saunders |

Are the disks all the same brand? Quality can vary tremendously.... also
try burning a a speed lower than you can... if your burner is a 16x, try burning at 12x. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging "Fred Saunders" <freds@commspeed.net> wrote in message news:1130958644.892167@news.commspeed.net... >I have made completed several projects with Moviemaker and Photostory. >When using the .wmv files and Roxio Easy Media creator 7.5 I am having >numerous problems. The brand of dvd blanks varies. My burner is an 8x unit and I have been
burning at 2x or 4x. Is this a media problem, or and old hardware problem? You can check at www.videohelp.com to find out exactly what your standalone
player is supposed to accept.... and what others have reported about it. If the brand of media you are using is a good quality (and not the cheapies), I would probably think about replacing both the DVD burner and the player..... strangely enough, the cheaper the standalone player, the more varieties of DVD it seems to accept and it's easier to 'hack' to make region free and concert PAL to NTSC and vice versa. Newer burners do the dual layer format as well.... and at today's prices, well worth the ten minutes to swap out! I have a Pioneer A08 which has never had problems... and my old A06 still works fine in hubby's PC.... As for players we have 4.... two pricier ones (Toshiba and JVC)... and two Phillips cheapies, hacked to be region free and play DVDs from the UK because they happily convert PAL to NTSC.... the two pricey ones have balked at several burned disks, the Phillips' have accepted everything I've thrown at them. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging "Fred Saunders" <freds@commspeed.net> wrote in message news:1130971625.202890@news.commspeed.net... > The brand of dvd blanks varies. I agree with Cari completely. As a test you can take the DVD+R's you created
down to the electronics store with you and try them in some of their display DVD players and they will likely play in some but not in others. -Wojo "Cari (MS-MVP)" <Newsgroups1@coribright.com> wrote in message news:Oy55hjK4FHA.3036@TK2MSFTNGP15.phx.gbl... > You can check at www.videohelp.com to find out exactly what your > standalone player is supposed to accept.... and what others have reported > about it. > > If the brand of media you are using is a good quality (and not the > cheapies), I would probably think about replacing both the DVD burner and > the player..... strangely enough, the cheaper the standalone player, the > more varieties of DVD it seems to accept and it's easier to 'hack' to make > region free and concert PAL to NTSC and vice versa. > > Newer burners do the dual layer format as well.... and at today's prices, > well worth the ten minutes to swap out! > > I have a Pioneer A08 which has never had problems... and my old A06 still > works fine in hubby's PC.... > > As for players we have 4.... two pricier ones (Toshiba and JVC)... and two > Phillips cheapies, hacked to be region free and play DVDs from the UK > because they happily convert PAL to NTSC.... the two pricey ones have > balked at several burned disks, the Phillips' have accepted everything > I've thrown at them. > > -- > Cari (MS-MVP) > Printing & Imaging > > > > "Fred Saunders" <freds@commspeed.net> wrote in message > news:1130971625.202890@news.commspeed.net... >> The brand of dvd blanks varies.
