My computer has an internal CD and DVD rewriteable drive, yet when I want to
save the movie to a CD, the error box "a recordable CD drive was not detected" appears. I've went through the troubleshooting list and have tried other new blank CD-R and CD-RW as well as DVD-R, and the drive is connected properly b/c a DVD movie and an audio CD works in the drive. Same error message still pops up. Arrgghh!!! What is wrong? =( |

Have same problem as you and did the same as you to correct, then this
morning with a clearer head noticed that the drive letter to detect the recordable device was a very small j which is not my drive at all. I am now trying to find a way to have it recognize the proper drive. I don't know if this is part of your problem or not but its worth a look, and any help I can get on how to change to the proper drive would be great. Good luck in solving your problem. -- flames "gamette" wrote: > My computer has an internal CD and DVD rewriteable drive, yet when I want to > save the movie to a CD, the error box "a recordable CD drive was not > detected" appears. Here's a possibility:
Open "My Computer" and right click on the DVD Drive. Click "Properties" Under the "Recording" tab make sure there is a checkmark next to "Enable CD recording on this drive" -- Wojo's Place: http://www.remember-christopher.dostweb.com/Wojo's_Place/ Also Please visit..... http://www.remember-christopher.dost...m/christopher/ "flames" <flames@moviemakertalk.com> wrote in message news:E6020C77-2F87-4978-B902-1245449ED005@microsoft.com... > Have same problem as you and did the same as you to correct, then this > morning with a clearer head noticed that the drive letter to detect the > recordable device was a very small j which is not my drive at all. Thanks wojo! I enabled that "Enable CD recording..." option before but
didn't realize that it was an option and not a default setting. It recorded the movie on a CD but not a DVD. Why is that? Thank you for your help. Appreciate it! No problem.
I have seen that checkbox get inadvertently unchecked during some program installations for no reason that I can ascertain. Glad it worked for you. -Wojo "gamette" <gamette@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news 0FC4C37-95E8-4E8F-A3E1-04CFD8945BEA@microsoft.com...> Thanks wojo!
