Default making dvds

i am new to the whole movie making thing and require basic help. i can make
movies, from my camcorder footage, brilliantly through windows XP movie
maker, the trouble comes when trying to get it onto dvd. obviously mm does
not support this so i bought movie factory 4 to burn finished film on dvd.
only i am having major trouble doing this. does it need to be saved as a
certain type of file so that movie maker 4 can read it? i cannot get on with
making movies in movie factory 4 as i find it too complicated. sorry this is
long winded.

Not long winded at all.
Are you clicking File -> Save and trying to import the MSWMM file that is
created?
If so this will not work. That file is only a project file.
You need to either click on "Save to my computer" or press CTRL+R to open
the save movie wizard and save the project as a movie file (Preferably
DV-AVI) Import this file into Movie Factory 4.
