I'm just beginning to look at MM after having been beat up by Pinnacle Studio
10. Can MM burn a DVD direct (I have just purchased new HP Media PC with
lots of media stuff to convert VHS stuff to DVD - it has DVD burn hardware
and all) or do I have to render to an intermediate file and then burn a DVD
from that? If so, what software would you recommend?

Check you saving movie options in Movie Maker... you may have the option to
burn to a DVD from Movie Maker

.... be aware that it's a one movie per disc option, with no features for
customizing the DVD menu.... to do that, you need to take the movie or the
burned disc to your full featured DVD software.
