Some ask why they should use Photo Story and Movie Maker together.... why
not one or the other? Here's a 54 second snippet to help answer. http://www.papajohn.org/video/SampleStory_Movie.wmv First I made a story from a single 8+ megapixel still image.... panning and zooming in PS3 makes use of all the available pixels... saved it to a 1024x768 story wmv file at 189 Kbps. Then I used the story as a source file to a movie, adding text and music, and rendered it to a 640x480 wmv file at 768 Kbps... The story makes the best use of all the pixels.... the movie is easier to add text and music, and to render a movie that can be viewed by my friends who use Apples.... they can't view PS3 stories. -- PapaJohn Movie Maker 2 and Photo Story 3 website - http://www.papajohn.org MM2 Tips and Tricks: http://www.simplydv.co.uk/simplyBB/viewtopic.php?t=4693 Online Newsletters: http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/PapaJohn/Index.aspx |

PapaJohn,
I love to use PS3 and MM21 together: that couple is exactly what I need, no more, no less, to create my family DVD movies. But I have a problem: PS3 stories re-rendered from MM21 play quite jerky, and the most rapid and deep the pans and zooms, the most the problem is noticable (the original PS3 story play smooth). Wojo reported the same problem (though only with low quality profiles). To me, the problem occurs whatever the choosen profile in MM21 (PAL). I really would like a solution to that. Relying on your large experience, have you some ideas to solve that problem? Thank you Michel Dell Laptop Inspiron 2650, 1.7 Ghz, 512 MB, XP Pro SP2, HD 5400 rpm with not much space left. Have you tried any of the profiles from my Saving Movies > Custom WMV
Profiles page, such as the link 'Heading to DVD - PAL' one.... and the profiles for PS3 toward the bottom of the Photo Story 3 > Saving page. Just as I was about to write in a general question regarding combining PS3
and MM2 I read your post. Your answer to that question seemed to cover my concerns. My next project will follow the guideline of your "54 second snippet." Beautiful job and background music! Thanks. I actually found now that if I render in 640x480 I don't have that issue
after going through WMM. It was when I used a higher resolution 1024x768 or 800x600 that the issue showed up. -Wojo "Michel" <michel@m.m> wrote in message news:elKwQfw%23FHA.3676@tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl... > PapaJohn, > > I love to use PS3 and MM21 together: that couple is exactly what I need, > no more, no less, to create my family DVD movies. > But I have a problem: PS3 stories re-rendered from MM21 play quite jerky, > and the most rapid and deep the pans and zooms, the most the problem is > noticable (the original PS3 story play smooth). > Wojo reported the same problem (though only with low quality profiles). > To me, the problem occurs whatever the choosen profile in MM21 (PAL). > I really would like a solution to that. In MM21, I need to render to dv-avi because my final format is DVD. I have
tried your "PapaJohn WMV for DVD (PAL)" profile. After encoding through TMPGENc, I have found an very noticable loss of sharpness. So I keep using dv-avi out of MM21. In PS3, I have tried your "PapaJohn - DVD profile (PAL). When re-rendered in MM21, I have the "jerkyness" problem. Maybe the problem is specific to PAL projects? I will try NTSC and report here if it makes a difference. Thank you.
