Default Importing converted video files into MM2 as original files

Now that I've converted all my mpg video files to avi, how do I import them
into my collections in MM2 without having to rename the files or how do I
import the converted files under the original name ? I hope someone could
understand what I'm trying to do. Please help! Thanks!

Whenever I import an avi file with the same exact name as an mpg file it adds
a (1) after the name. For example "Movie File" [mpg format].. covert it to
avi file and import into MM2...file imports as "Movie File (1)" [avi format],
I want to know if there is a way to import the avi format with the same name
as the mpg format. I've already split some of the clips up for use in my
videos before I changed to avi. I don't want to have to resplit the files all
over again if I can avoid it!

Right I'm with you now, but unsure if this will work.......... It'll take a
bit of messing....

Save a totally new project, so that the original one is available if this
all goes pear shaped.
Save all the original mpegs with new names, so select them all and press F2
and rename something else, you need to note the name of the old mpegs so we
can name them back again if neccessary, rename the avi's. Now they shouldn't
pick up the mpeg names and be named how you want them to be, and MM won't
try to reference the old files.

Another way of saving all the mpegs etc would be to copy adn paste the whole
lot to another fold on your hdd, then you can just delete what you are doing
above if it doesn't worka dn move the old files back.

Hope this makes sense

I don't believe you have a problem here. Of course, two files in the
same folder can not have the same name. However, if one has a file
extension of AVI and the other MMV or whatever, then the file names are
unique. If I'm not mistaken, the import function allows you to choose a
filename. If it's imported under a different name the name can be
changed. Be careful about deleteing existing files. Existing files may
still be the source of your present project though they are not the
current version.
