Can someone suggest popular low, medium and high-end alternatives to Movie
Maker?

Look at Ulead DVD Movie Factory, fairly easy and Adobe Premiere Elements,
more sophisticated but harder to learn .
If buying Elements would recommend Adobe's Classroom In A Book as well to
help learning.
For high end Adobe Premiere.
Keep well away from Pinnacle Studio, I tried everything I could to get this
working but couldn't. Their support was non-existent. Was tempted to
return it and demand a refund but it came with a firewire card and cable
which I was using with the others.

Thank you both for the suggestions. I have been browsing and am focusing my
research on Serious Magic's Visual Communicator and Adobe's Premiere Elements.

I'm planning to do some newscast like webcasts/vlogs. I like that Serious
Magic has features for green screen effects and a tele-prompter. Other
effects I'll use are for titles, credits and some over the shoulder shots.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've tried Pinnacle Studio9 and Ulead7. I now use MoviePlus4 almost
exclusively.
I particularly like the ability to add unlimited audio and video tracks. Of
course, over time I have learned more, so the difference is not all program,
But i seem to edit my home movies a lot quicker and get lots better results.
I never could get Pinnacle to work properly, and they never even
acknowledged my emails to support. Ulead was ok, but I had a limited version
and didn't like that.

I brought Pinnacle studio (plus) because it came with a firewire cable and
port. Although I used the cable and port, I'm new to capturing and editing
film and found Pinnancle complicated. It came with a manual and when I have
enough time I will sit down and learn the process (maybe take a week off work
to learn) meanwhile I'll stick to an easier program, windows moviemaker
