I have a Sony TRV-33E miniDV, when using Sony packaged software for capturing
on USB, audio works OK. When using WMM or Roxio for capture, video is OK but no audio. WMM and Roxio play back video and audio from files captured with Sony software OK. Could capture everything with Sony and then use other programs but it's nice for things to work properly with each program. It's as if Sony driver has taken over USB audio in. Have not tried Firewire/iLink as computer doesn't have card. Any suggestions for video editing novice. -- Nick Mitch |

This seems to happen quite often when capturing with USB.
Your computer doesn't have a firewire card but it isn't an expensive item to buy and it is very easy to install so I very highly recommend purchasing one. -Wojo -- Wojo's Web: http://www.remember-christopher.dostweb.com/Wojos_web/ Also Please visit..... http://www.remember-christopher.dost...m/christopher/ "Nick Mitch" <NickMitch@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:2762FA8D-3CC7-4C4C-9362-9381C0B46E98@microsoft.com... >I have a Sony TRV-33E miniDV, when using Sony packaged software for >capturing > on USB, audio works OK. I can't really say for sure what the problem with USB is (other than that
it's slower) except that it seems to happen a lot and when capturing with firewire the capture problems are rare. -Wojo "Nick Mitch" <NickMitch@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:3AA99892-5940-4E5D-915B-4428C85E8A21@microsoft.com... > Thank you for reply, until I sort out a Firewiire is there not a work > around/solution. While I agree you need to get a firewire card for your system, try this for
the Roxio/WMM capture. On the MM screen that appears after Capture from video device, make sure that your sound card is selected. Occasionally this will get changed. Also, if you think the right device is selected, attempt to try it with a different device selected (if one is available.) For Roxio Video Wave, after selecting the Capture icon on the main editing screen and selecting your capture device, the capture screen will come up. Click on Settings and again make sure that the proper sound device is showing. Hope this solves your problem.
