Default Movie Maker for Vista

I installed the latest beta of Vista yesterday, and it has the beta of Movie
Maker included.... there's a screen shot of it on the Setup > Vista page of
my website, with more info to roll out as I explore it.

Today it can't import an MPEG-2 file... says the codec needed isn't on my
system. So I'm sure it can't do the DVR-MS... but today's version is not a
full beta 2, just a preview. Maybe tomorrow's.

Yeah, that's what I said yesterday, and the day before that,
and the day before that... <sigh>

It just seems ridiculous to me that Microsoft's own video
editor STILL doesn't support their own DVR-MS format.

As far as Movie Maker's [lack of] MPEG-2 support, well ...
I'll save that rant for another day! ;-)

Thanks for your reply.

Exactly! I don't really care about the whys (i.e., no hardware encoder for
WMV). Microsoft creates DVR-MS files, Windows Movie Maker should be able to
edit them.
