Gracenote (FAQ)
Why did I get the message: "Open Socket Fail"? This message is almost always related to the proxy settings used by the player application that uses the Gracenote Media Recognition Service (not the proxy settings of your browser) Most player applications have some "Settings" window where you can set the parameters needed to connect to the Internet through a proxy server. If you are not using a proxy server, make sure these settings are not set up as if you do. If you change the proxy settings, you may need to restart the player application before they take effect. If you can't find your player's proxy settings, or if they seem correct but you are still having a problem, contact the developer of the player application. If you need help locating the developer, there are links on our player pages for most of our licensed developers, or look in the About box on your application. http://www.gracenote.com/music/ Using WMP, click on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Network tab. This section covers the following options: Streaming protocols and proxy settings Configuring protocols -- XP-WNP Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
