On a brand new Dell Inspiron 6000, my son loaded ITunes and the computer
would no longer boot. I get an error message as follows: A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. This problem may have been caused by the following file: NTFS.SYS. Page fault in non paged area If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps: Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation ask your hardware or software manufactuirer for any windows updates. If problems continue disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode hit F8 on startup. Tech information * * * STOP: OXOOOOO5O (OXF3D72FOO OxOOOOOOO1 * * * NTFS.SYS - address F833412F base at F83330000 Date Stampt 41107eea Begining dump of physical memory Physical memory dump complete Contact your system adminsitrator of tech support group for further assistance." I contacted Dell, they had me run their diagnostics which showed no hardware problem. Then they had me use a built in Dell/Symantec restore program to restore the computer to the factory state. I did. The computer worked fine. I did all the updates to Windows XP after restoring the computer. After reloading ITunes again, the same problem occurred, except now, the Dell/Symantec system restore doesn't help since after doing that the computer still crashes trying to loan Windows and I get the same error message as above. Any help, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I know, quit trying to run ITunes. Unfortunately, it is my son's computer and he wants to use the program and also cannot understand why it will not work on a brand new machine. -- Jack Cutrone |

I'd sure stay away from ITunes. I notice on that site WinMX and LimeWire.
WinMX I believe has shut down but not sure about LimeWire. I think its a matter of time before all "free" file sharing is stopped. I'd ask a person I know who is using ITunes as to any problems as of this minute. It's just possible that the program is no good.
