None of the new SACD (Super Audio CD's) that I just got will play from the d:
drive (Toshiba) of my HP Pavillion notebook. Media Player 10 shows: "No disc in D: drive." It won't let me rip or play. But other, non SACD disks will play. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? 2 HP Support sessions were total time wasters. Why do I even bother? |

Oh, I forgot to add--the SACD's will play from my Old Windows 98 Gateway D
drive with the little CD player utility that came with the old gal. I copied that CD player utility to my HP notebook, but it still won't read the disc. How is this possible. I bought 6 Dylan cd's and I can't upload them or listen to them from my pc...I am so pissed. -- Diane "Diane" wrote: > None of the new SACD (Super Audio CD's) that I just got will play from the d: > drive (Toshiba) of my HP Pavillion notebook. What use are these links? They don't say anything about not being able to
play a disc created with their technology on my pc. Are there instructions on these sites for fixing my problem? Or, ARe you saying I should e-mail them that their technology is a rip-off? It seems if I was going to go down that road, I should e-mail Columbia records or Sony or whoever employs or buys this Philips technology. Could you straighten me out on what the links are for? -- Diane "Byte" wrote: > Super Audio CD Systems - Philips Intellectual Property & Standards > http://www.licensing.philips.com/information/sacd/ > > ProTECH solutions overview - Philips Intellectual Property & Standards > Philips SACD Software > http://www.licensing.philips.com/inf...ments1072.html > -- > XP-WNP > Today is the first day of the > rest of your life. My my, what hostility. If you check the links, you'll find out that those CD's
will not play on your PC's CD player (WMP). Also, you can access their tech support, for which you paid, and get assistance instead of venting your frustration on people that are trying to help you. -- XP-WNP Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Most SACDs are "hybrid" - a layer SA and another layer standard CD-Audio -
i.e., there are two different recordings of the same track; hence, in your PC you are listening the CD-Audio track. It is physically impossible for a non-SACD Player to read the data on the SACD layer. See more here, for ex. http://www.itweek.co.uk/personal-com...lution-horizon Michael "Diane" <Diane@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:294B7A71-878D-405F-B3CA-3C975144FF46@microsoft.com... > Oh, I forgot to add--the SACD's will play from my Old Windows 98 Gateway D > drive with the little CD player utility that came with the old gal. Why do I even bother? > I am assuming that these are hybrid discs since you state that they will play on an older system. Hybrid SACDs will play in all CD-ROM and CD-RW drives. They will play in some CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drives, and will not play in any DVD-ROM or DVD-RW drives. Non-hybrid SACD discs will not play on any PC drive. -- Galley's Music Scene A different music topic every weekday http://www.GalleysMusicScene.com/ |
