Media Player playing music way too fast!?

this has happened a few times now, in windows media player. I open an mp3
file, or mpeg video file and windows media player plays it about 4 times too
fast. now its not the speed settings that you can adjust on new versions on
wmp. So what could it be? i think its something to do with my hardware? any
help anyone?

I have the WMP10 version, and you can adjust the speed.
Click View>Enhancements>Play Speed Settings

Play Speed settings wouldn't fix this since they reset to normal each time.

is much more likely the source of this - you likely have bad sound card
drivers.
