mp3 player software affecting sound from speakers

hi
I bought an mp3 player recently and have just downloaded the software for
it. Then I had to download a program called something like 'active x control'.
The problem is that now my speakers are giving off a constant buzzing noise.
When I do a system restore to a previous point on the computer, the speakers
go back to normal but then I am left with no software for my mp3 player.
I am quite computer iliterate. if someone has a solution for me I would be
very grateful.

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your MP3 player. You may have
to download additional codecs or updated drivers that are more compatible
with XP.
