I have been trying to get any sound from my speakers for a while. I even
brought some assistance in to try and help. Everything is turned on that we can find. We went all the way into the Device Manager and everything seems to be turned on and ready. And, yes, the speakers work. Even the tech support I contacted could only get us as far as we got on our own. The sound seems to be off at the "BIOS" level. Is that something I can turn back on? Any help is appreciated. |

Before you lost your sound, had you been inside of the computer? Had you
installed a drive, memory etc internally where you mayhave bumped the Sound Card and caused it to become unseated in the Slot or did you happen to unplug any the little connectors that run from the CD drives to the card etc? these are things I would check first. Then if you are certain that the speakers work and that the Sound card is fine, REPLACE the cable from the Soundcard to the speaker, they can become bad. If you have done that and you are certain ALL connections are fine and the cable has been replaced, then be extra 100% certain it is REALLY plugged into the proper hole on the back of the card, that is the most common of mistakes and even if you checked it 100 times, if you are reading the symbols wrong, it is STILL wrong. -- I Have forgotten so much of what I once knew. Craig, Thanks a bunch for the response. I have gone through all of your
checks including purchasing a new cord connecting the speakers. Still no luck. I also went through all of the Windows XP troubleshooting tips up to checking to see if the sound is turned on in BIOS, which is probably out of my league. I know the CD is playing and that the settings appear correct. Just in case, I tried all of the plugs near the audio outlet, still nothing. Wow, is this frustrating... The sound card is the Creative Live! brand. One of the links you provided has
given me another option I will try. If you have any other advice, I am all ears...
