Default Crescendo Plug-in

I have Crescendo Plug-in downloaded and installed on my hard drive.

I am trying to get it to work in Netscape 7, but all it will do is play in
IE.

I don't understand why this is. I mean, when I went to the download page it
told me if I wanted to install it to Netscape browser then the file path I
should use is:

C:\ProgramFiles\Netscape\Netscape7\plug-ins

That's exactly what I did. When it asked me for the file path I put in the
file path I just quoted above.

But when I went to My Computer and opened up Netscape and looked at Plug-ins
it wasn't listed, even though the set-up program told me it was creating that
file.

Does anyone here have any idea why Crescendo won't install as a plug-in in
Netscape and what I can do to get it to install to Netscape?

Also, I have midi on my Website and I put in: embed src="name of midi" and it
will play in IE using Windows Media Player.

Is there a code for Crescendo that I need to put on my webpage so that it
will play the
midi in Netscape and if so what would that code be?

Have you contacted the Netscape people for assistance or tech support?

The last time I contacted them they wanted me to pay them money for tech
support.

Have you contacted Netscape and gotten free assistance?

Did you do a Windows search for the Crescendo plug-in?

I'm pretty sure it will, but since I don't have it installed I can't check
to see where NS needs it installed. I use NS 7.2, and I looked at my files
under Programs and Application Data and seem to have media plugins in
several places.

You can go to this web page [below] and ask your questions in their Netscape
forum, or in the NS newsgroups for some free advice. I always had better
luck in the newsgroups, but you may want to try both.

I went to the Forum you gave me the link for above and it CLEARLY said that
if I registered I would be able to immediately post a question to the forum.

Well I registered and it WOULD NOT let me post.

I have been trying to get a resolution to this problem for six weeks. It is
about to drive me crazy. I don't really need any more dead ends like this
forum that won't let me in.

To answer your question: Yes, I did a windows search for the plug-in using
the file path I was told to use to get it to work and I was told that the
file was unavailable.

How do I look at Programs and Applications Data? I mean, I know where
programs are on MY COMPUTER, but I have no idea where to look for
Applications Data.

And yes I too seem to have plug-ins in several places.

All I want to do is to get Crescendo Plug-in to work in Netscape so that it
will play my midi on my webpage using Netscape Browser.

Can someone PLEASE tell me how I do this?

Did you get in later today, and start the thread showing there now, iniated
by Dr.Seven? I was going to post your question for you, until I saw that.

It is a volunteer supported site, and doesn't update or give feedback as
quickly as you would get from a commercial site. Patience... please.

XP is still a foreign creature to me, as it seems to have outside program
files everywhere. Other files that control Netscape [and other programs]
are also under C:\Documents and Settings\~your name~\Application
Data\Mozilla. They aren't all in the Program File.

Also FWIW my music player is under C:\Documents and Settings\~my name~\Local
Settings\Application Data also.

Jay Garcia is an old hand with NS, and that's his site I referred you to, if
he can't help you, there are people in the NS newsgroups who have more
patience than he does. Sorry I'm not using Crescendo, so I could be of more
help.

If you type in Netscape+Crescendo at Google... you will get a wealth of
links that may prove helpful... among these, is this one that has detailed
instructions on what to check, based on what O/S and software you have:

the armadilloweb site is where I downloaded Crescendo player from and that's
where I was told to put in this file path:

C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape7\Plug-ins.

And when I put in that file path it just put it in IE anyway.

How frustrating!

I will check google as you suggested. It can't get any more hopeless.
