Am running XP SP1, Media 10. With all critical updates included. For past
week am unable to play any streaming radio shows etc. For example, the url below, I'd click on "click here" to listen live, it opens up a window and just when it looks like it will connect, the pop-up window and the original url close down, with no error messages given. Any thoughts? I tried realplayer and get same results on any website that streams. WMP works fine from saved data files, CD's etc. Thanks in advance for your valued input! -HArry http://www.kfnn.com/listen.asp few others... mms://nick9.surfernetwork.com/MarketWrapFiles/200511281506wrap.wma or try play on any station listed here: http://windowsmedia.com/radiotuner/MyRadio.asp |

Its not a problem, its because your internet explorer is rejecting this file, so you will have to do the following, click on "Click here" and when the media player appears right click it and choose properties, then copy the Location "http:/....." then go to Windows Media Player and from file menu choose Open URL and then paste the url, and press enter, enjoy!! -- Aiys "ucstuff" wrote: > Am running XP SP1, Media 10. It IS a problem. While the "kfnn" link pop-up goes closes too fast to
click, I can still enter the "market Wrap" link into the "open URL" and it closes WMP. Heck it even closed down additional windows ie, the one you are reading now! A: Update to XPSP2. B: What error do you get? You're saying that a page pops up, the stream starts/attempts to start, and then the page disappears without notice? This sounds like an IE bug that's fixed in XPSP2. -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. I've had the same problem. Sometimes just emptying your IE TEMP folder will
often do the trick. Also, a lot of sites that stream, require that Cookies, Referrer and/or User/Agent info is available. If you use a security app that can block this info, (like NIS), make sure you enable those options for those sites. Also check for any third-party cookies that may need to be allowed. I have my security settings set to "paranoid" and since EVERYTHING is blocked until I say so, I often have the same problem you have, but check your event log and there you'll often see who or what info needs to be enabled. Just enabling the above info usually gets everything 'streaming' happily. For example: To see a streaming video at http://www.freefreevideos.com/item.php?id=19096 f.x, you have to let that info through PLUS you also have to have Yahoo cookies enabled! (of all things!) Some sites just stream away with no probs, but others require a bit more info. Below is just a copy/paste of the Yahoo cookie info just to show you the info in it...you can see it has something to do with streaming. So try it out! Hope it works for you too... )Type: Cookie URL: http://dalwmod043.bcst.yahoo.com/b02...m2&s=396500550 Data: LYC=l_v=1&l_lv=9&l_s=y35yyxvsu242us2xyqx5uwxrsu44v 0wt&l_lid=1p5p81h&l_lc=0_1_0_0_-1&l_gv=i46ef&l_um=0_0_1_0_0&l_mv=110_-1; LYS=l_fh=0&l_vo=myla; playerFullVersion=10; MVUserInfo3=161_10; l%5FPD3=208; B=9sha64p1p11gn&b=2 |

Okay, this was a challenge. I tried kfnn.com and for the life of me I
couldn't get the darn thing to play either to begin with, but now it does!! According to my log, there was a THIRD site that needed 'permission'... Here's what I did: I enabled cookies, referrer and user/agent for 3 sites: kfnn.com playstream.com & 63.251.167.51 That's it! Give it a go mate... ) |

Couldn't get the site below to play anything either. The URL gave me a
C00D11D4 error message.... mms://nick9.surfernetwork.com/MarketWrapFiles/200511281506wrap.wma Fixed it like this.... In Windows Media Player, on the 'Tools' menu, click 'Options'. Choose the 'Network' tab. Check your settings in the 'Streaming proxy settings' area. Highlight 'mms' and click Configure. In the Configure Protocol dialog box, select 'Use no proxy settings' (I'm not running an English version of XPsp2, so I've translated the 'route' as best I could. Hope you still can find the right place to go in WMP...) Anyway...this worked for me. Let me know if it works out for you too.... ) |

And last but not least:
http://windowsmedia.com/radiotuner/MyRadio.asp Had no problems anywhere here..... (PS) On both this and the kfnn site, you also have to permit ActiveX controls. ) |
