I have about 700 CDs ripped to my harddrive in WAV format. (I wanted to be
able to make CDs for the car, which has worked well for a couple of years.) Now I am wanting to get a high capacity MP3 player 20GB+. I know/think that I will have to convert the WAV files to MP3 to beable to load up my collection. Is there a conversion software product that will maintain directory structure and tags? or will I end up with a MP3 player full of unknown songs. All of my files are in D:\..\my music\artist\album\song.wav structure. I have probably 150 artists folders, some have upwards of 15 album folders. The tags were reassigned using visual basic (after Real Player corrupted my index, I switched to WMP10) to set the Artist, Album, Title and track. Some have been further updated while playing a song and updating the information from web-databases, just like the original rip from CD did way back when. What I would like to do is specify D:\..\my Music\ as the input WAV file folder then let the conversion run for however long it talkes and put the resulting MP3 files into C:\..\my mp3 Music\ (where the Artist folders, Album folders and tag information are maintained) Anyone know for sure of a converter that will accomplish this? or what are the necessary steps? OR am I making this much harder than it has to be, so I just make a huge playlist in WMP10 and as it stores in the mp3 player it will convert automatically? -- Regards, John |

Certainly the Audio Converter contained in the Plus! Super Pack will
maintain the file names..... I haven't tried any other converters, but the one in the Super Pack and the Plus! Digital Media Edition works just as it should. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/plus/PlusHome.asp -- Cari (MS-MVP) Windows Technologies, Printing & Imaging http://www.coribright.com/windows "John Keith" <JohnKeith@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:70A98853-603B-46BA-A095-6CF2136072A0@microsoft.com... >I have about 700 CDs ripped to my harddrive in WAV format. I tried dbpoweramp to do my conversion. BUT, it will not allow the input to
be all of a folders contents. I need a converter that will allow that (as well as maintain tags) And hopefully the same folder structure. (I ripped all of my CDs in WAV format into Album folders into artist folders) Anyone know of conversion software that will do that? Also, Is there a way to maintain both WAV and WMA formats of my music. WMP10 documatations says I will get duplicate entries. But is there some way to switch between the formats? (would high bitrate vs. low bitrate selections allow this?) Im pretty sure I could have a high-bit playlist and a low-bit playlist (to use to sync to my iRiver)... but is there someway that the standard folders for Artist/Album, Artist, contributing artis... etc. could be toggled between the bit rates? -- Regards, John "Cari (MS-MVP)" wrote: > Certainly the Audio Converter contained in the Plus! I should have dug further into the help files before posting...
dbpoweramp DOES have a way to select folders for conversion... you have to launch a different program that then calls the converter for each file. perhaps this will helps someone else that has made the same mistake. -- Regards, John "John Keith" wrote: > I tried dbpoweramp to do my conversion.
