Using WinXP Home with all the latest updates etc in place.

I recently replaced (upgraded) my motherboard after which I completely
reformatted my HD and did a fresh installation of WinXP. I've been
reinstalling all my software and at last I got to Sony's SonicStage
yesterday. I downloaded the most recent version (3.3) and installed it. The
installation went off just fine. But every time I ran the program it would
get to the initial screen where it says it's going to scan the HD for media
files (or whatever), the screen would go black, and the computer would
reboot. I uninstalled the program and rolled back to an earlier restore
point and reinstalled it again. Same result. Uninstall, roll back, and
install version 2.0 (which I know worked on the old machine). Same result.
Uninstall, roll back, and install version 3.0. Same result. Search Sony's
own sites, which are completely silent on this issue. Search Google on
"SonicStage" and then "reboot". Find others have this problem but no obvious
solution. (One person apparently discovered a driver that was incompatible
with SonicStage. I'm not using that driver on my setup.) I did find that
there has been some discussion of problems with SonicStage in this NG, so
here I am.

The only thing I absolutely *need* SonicStage for is to manage the music
files on my NW-HD3 and Network Walkman Sony players. Is there an alternative
to SonicStage that will allow me to do that? Is there any way to fix
SonicStage so that I can do that?
